Walter Clayton Ford

Walter Clayton Ford was the fourth of eight children born to Mary Jane Smart and Esquire Thomas Ford.

He was born February 2, 1897 in Montague, a small town between Dallas and Wichita Falls, near the Red River Valley of Northern Texas.

He probably lived also in Plainview, Texas and Inez, New Mexico as well as Syracuse, Hamilton Co., Kansas.

Walter married Isa Anna Martin March 21, 1921 in Portales, New Mexico.

Isa Anna Martin Lineage

Isa was born June 12, 1898 in Syracuse, Hamilton Co., Kansas to Paul Sterling Martin [born on December 17, 1866 in Galatin, Missouri and died on April 8, 1959 in Syracuse, Hamilton Co., Kansas] and Sara Eliza Kellic (January 1, 1861 - December 3, 1946). Paul and Sara were married on May 16, 1887 in Topeka, Shawnee Co., Kansas.

Paul's father was Alfonso Levi Martin [born on October 19, 1827 in White Co., Tennessee and did on October 29, 1910 in Syracuse, Hamilton Co., Kansas] and his mother was Rachel Agnes McCue [June 29, 1833 - July 15, 1927]. Alfonso and Rachel were married on August 30, 1855.

Alfonso's father was called George Martin and his mother's name was Margaret Lamar.

He had previously married Essie Boyd but they received a divorce many years earlier on November 21, 1914.

Walter worked as a rancher, a trucker and a carpenter. He served in WWI and was a Methodist.

Married Henrietta Kohlman but was divorced in 1986.

Married Marian Theresa Cox of Dallas on November 23, 1986 in Dallas,TX.

Passings

Walter Clayton Ford and several realties are buried in Manzanola Co. Cemetery, Otero Co., Colorado. Walter died September 2, 1973 in Rocky Ford, Colorado.

Isa Anna (nee Martin) Ford remained in Rocky Ford until her death a few years later--on April 25, 1976. She is buried with Walter.

 

Anna Lorene (nee Ford) Scarbrough died in 2000 and is buried nearby with her husband, Glenn W. Scarbrough. Also nearby were stones for two children lost young: Lesa Renea Ford  (1965 - 1981) and Anna Lorene's grandson, Shawn Scarbrough (son of Gary) Oct 18 -19, 1975.
