Jerry Lemon Winn was born on October 27, 1891 in West Fork, Washington County, Arkansas. He died on May 19, 1951 in Santa Ana, Orange County, California after a brief illness. He is buried in Westminster Memorial Park in Santa Ana. He was a native of West Fork, Arkansas and lived in Santa Ana 11 years. He was a carpenter and then owned a real estate business.

Grandmother Clements was a loner, having been widowed a long time and never remarried after Mr. Clements died, which was well before I can remember. She lived with us in Atwater in a spare room my dad added onto our house. When we moved to Tracy, my father bought a junk yard from Bill Young at 13280 W. Byron Rd. We cleared the junk off the 1-2 acre site, put in water, electric and a septic tank. Then we bought and placed a trailer in the back by the irrigation drainage ditch.

We moved a trailer onto the front of the property in front of the old Johnson's store that had been moved from Tracy to the property and my Grandmother live in that trailer. I remember people complaining that we were developing a trailer court without a license. The first time I heard the name of Frank Hoyt, my future wife's Grandfather, was when my dad was on the phone arguing with him over this issue. My dad had been told that Frank, the county supervisor was approachable on issues.

Grandmother would come over to our trailer for dinners often. After supper, she would always say, "I ate too much, I gotta go home" and off she went. She was easy going but never talked much.--Randy C. Smart
